What do you do?

I offer commercial and individual consultations in feng shui and BaZi (Chinese astrology). On the commercial side, I collaborate with designers and architects to ensure the end results work from a classical feng shui perspective. On a personal level, I work with clients in the process of transformation, from guiding them in their careers and relationships to helping them find the right life path. I often feel like being a feng shui consultant is like being a minister, healer, designer and therapist all rolled into one.

 

How’d you get into this career? 

As a child growing up in Korea, I was curious about the social and cultural norms of the old ways - things like matchmaking, the meaning of the Korean national flag and the placement of gravesites. I discovered that my ancestors used feng shui principles for our family burial grounds for several hundred years. This inspired me to learn more about the ancient science. Later on, I studied with respected feng shui masters in U.S., Europe and Asia and completed advanced training at Mastery Academy of Chinese Metaphysics.

 

Do you feel that feng shui has become a trend?

The depth of classical feng shui knowledge has entered American mainstream culture only in recent years. Prior to this, feng shui in this country was cheapened and oversimplified. A very complex ancient wisdom was watered down to promises of easy fixes and cheap trinkets such as wind chimes, ba-gua mirrors, crystals and so forth.

 

What are the benefits of environmental feng shui?

Our environment affects one-third of our destiny. When humans feel comfortable and nurtured in their environment, they are happier and more productive.

 

What’s the transformation process like?

I begin by analyzing the environment, the people and the current astrological cycles. Each one of us is born with a certain capacity in life (heaven luck). After a careful analysis, I advise clients how to enhance their environment (Earth luck) and their intentions and actions (man luck), to do the right things at the right time in the right places.

 

What words do you live by? 

A Chinese proverb says: “If there is harmony in the house, there will be order in the nation. If there is order in the nation, there will be peace on earth.”
